Some surgeons electively embolize such tumors before surgery to reduce intra-operative bleeding.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: 20px;\">This patient had carcinoma of his left kidney and I embolized it with dry alcohol and gel-foam before it was removed the next day. The first image\u00a0is\u00a0a contrast-enhanced transverse CT scan of the tumor showing a large deformed left kidney and the second image, angiogram of the tumor before I embolized it.
